As a courtesy to visiting hams at the Dayton Hamvention.
There is a posibility I may provide some internet access from the Hamvention
floor. I plan to request the partial use of a phone that can connect to a full
internet node. you will need your site IP # if you wish to telnet to your node
to check your email or check on the family. This site is part of the
DMA is another non-profit organization not quite aas the sponsor of Hamvention that
has a ComputerFest in the fall the weekend before the Labor day weekend. It takes tthe
whole Hara Arena.. since we are not quite as Hamvention yet the parking lot is
used for parking not a flea market. anyone interested in that please call the
DMA information line (513) 848-6DMA or email to kwaterb@dmapub.dma.org o
or myself for further information. If I can get the ok from the Forums Chairperson
Ron Moorfield a terminal with modem may be available for some limited use.
I plan to be working the show at the Speakers & Forums table... last year that
was near the conferrence rooms area. For those interested in doing a
CQ WPX MultiOperator SIngle Transmitter COntest Station with a contest QSO rate
of 300 per hour max that could be sustain over a 48 hour contest period
if there were enough WPX to keep it busy that would be a total of 14.4 qso
contacts.. the premise is to win by sheer volume of 14,400 as a goal.
You can then use the multitplier on lets say 60% of the 8,640 will give you a
decent score. So anyone interested in particiapting in am impromtu meeting
contact me via email, at the forums speaker table or call me at 643-2724 (513)
hope to see you at the Hamvention

Info On Modem Chips?
R:940423/1513z 2504@NO8M.#NEOH.OH.USA.NA
I am searching for reference materials on modem ICs such as the
TCM-3105 and the AMD-7910. I would also like to find a data
sheet and supplier for the AMD-7910. I am specifically looking
for a modem chip that could be utilized for HF applications.
Any information would be apprciated.

You might just call AMD. I did and received a "Modem Technical Manual"
and a 40 page data sheet both for the AM7910/AM7911 just for asking.

What is the best way for a Linux system already on the internet via
a ethernet Lan to also be on AX.25 TCP/IP via a TNC hooked into a
serial port?
Do I want Jnos or the GW4PTS AX.25 Package?

Pay no attention to the hardware-only requirement of the spec unless
you're trying to sell to U.S. government. No one else cares. For
anyone else, the issue is simply this: if I put in clear text, do
I get cipher text out that matches what DES specifies I should get?
If you do, it's DES.
Anyway, even if you sell to the government, the hardware-only issue
gets pretty silly when some vendors simply "black box" a micro or
bit-slice processor with a software (or microcode) implementation of
DES in ROM and call it hardware.

I'm intrigued by packet radio and would like to experiment -
but I suppose I need to be a licenced radio amateur? I'm in
the UK. Is there a specialised form of licence for those wanting
to stick to packet, or do you have to learn morse etc? What
is the packet scene like in the UK - active, or what?

Does "left over" perhaps imply a better price?
